Serenity

No matter how ironic it all seems,
I still detect the peace it brings.
A war with two strong sides,
equally powerful and demeaning.
One with raw emotion, armed and ready;
the other with love in all its forms -
waiting for the first move.
Separated from the reality;
some could call it fate-
But what really comes from the battle:
Is a decision of what is right,
and a choice of where loyalties lye:
Because neither of those have I made; instead-
I close my eyes and breathe in,
the scent of time fills my body.
It is not of defeat nor success-
A rose petal, soft and sweet.
My soul is finally awake;
I can feel this calm within:
Serene and understanding,
I am.
